DataMate 33.6Kbps with Network Management – Now Released!

Introduction

The Datamate V34 modem with 33.6Kbit/s speed and network management support is now released. This announcement provides information on additional features and enhancements to the DataMate Family:

• End to end network management
• Capability to upgrade non-managed models
• V34E (33.6K) speed support

Features and Benefits

• 2-wire leased line operation at speeds up to 33.6 Kbps.
• Automatic or manual 2-wire dial backup of leased lines at speeds up to 33.6K bit/s.
• 2-wire dial modem at speeds up to 33.6K bit/s.
• Compatible with V.34, V.32bis, V.32, V.22bis, V.22, V.21, Bell 212A, and Bell 103 modulation standards.
• Send and receive fax modem (Group 3, Class 1) at rates up to 14.4 Kbps.
• Synchronous DTE rates to 33,600 bps.
• Asynchronous DTE speeds to 115.2K bps
• V.42 and MNP 1-4 Error Correction in asynchronous mode.
• V.42bis and MNP5 Data Compression in asynchronous mode
• AT Dialing.

Target Market and Applications

The Datamate is positioned as a systems modem in the corporate/business market. It is an excellent alternative to the ALM 3239 family when a lower price point is important and security features are not a necessary requirement.

The DataMate V.34 is online compatible with Racal's ALM 3239, ALM 3239 CS, and ALM 3268 models for:

• leased-line operation,
• establishing a dial backup connection, and
• network management (in V.34 mode for speeds in the 7200 to 33,600 bps range).

The stand-alone DataMate V.34 can be used in conjunction with central site ALM 3239s to provide a total managed solution at a lower cost.

In addition, Racal has the ability to provide our customers with investment protection. Your customers can start out with the "non-managed" version and have the ability to upgrade at a future date should management become a requirement.

Notes

Network Management Upgrade

Units ordered without network management support (NMS) can be upgraded in the field. A separate upgrade will be provided for this purpose:

DM-NM-UPG FLP: $100 Product Class 6

NB: Units currently installed in the field cannot be upgraded with the NMS capability.
